What if my Brain Type result doesn’t fit me?

Although we’ve found that our Brain Type Assessment is highly accurate, it is a tool that helps increase self-awareness, rather than a scientific measurement. As a result, there will always be a few people that don’t get the right Brain Type result on the first try. Sometimes this could be because you took the test on an off day, or while you were distracted.

We’ve provided the 4 Brain Type descriptions so that you can look through them and self-assess which one is the best fit for you. Be sure to think of yourself at your happiest and healthiest when you reflect on which sounds most like you.

Why can’t I be an Alchemist/Oracle or an Explorer/Architect or an Architect/Oracle or an Alchemist/Explorer?

The reason we’ve set up Brain Type so that Primary Brain Types correspond with specific Secondary Brain Type has to do with the natural balance to each Brain Type that we’ve observed during our years of research.

Architect = internal concrete process Explorer = external concrete process Oracle = internal abstract process Alchemist = external abstract process

You can’t be an Oracle with a secondary Alchemist (for example) because, while you have to have balance between the external and internal, you also have to have balance between the abstract and the concrete.

If you were 100% abstract (Alchemist + Oracle), you wouldn’t be able to exist in the real world—you’d be some sort of equivalent of a brain in a jar on a shelf. :P

On the flip side, you can’t be 100% concrete (Architect + Explorer), because no human exists solely in their 5-senses concrete experiences— that would be like some sort of robot who isn’t able to think for themselves or have ideas.

In addition, everyone deals with processing information out in the world (outside their head— we are all able to communicate and affect change on other people and the world around us), as well as processing information internally (we’re all capable of thought and reflection in our own minds).

Our Secondary Brain Type always provides a natural balance to our Primary Brain Type. Some of us use our Primary and Secondary Brain Types fairly often (you could say with a 60%/40% kind of split, while others mostly focus on their Primary almost exclusively (more like 80%/20%). When you take all of these factors into account, you’ll find that understanding Primary and Secondary Brain Types is relatively easy.

All humans are able to process information in our minds, and deal with information in the world around us. We all have the capacity to have ideas and understanding of abstract thought, as well as the capacity for understanding concrete, practical information. The Primary and Secondary Brain Type describe this holistic balance of our preferences.

Is Brain Type based on another personality system (MBTI/Enneagram/DISC/Big 5/Etc.)?

Brain Type started out with the theoretical framework laid out by Swiss psychologist Carl Gustav Jung.

Beckett Hanan (the creator of the Brain Type Assessment!) and the rest of our team has spent years researching, testing, and applying Jung’s theories through coaching and interviewing thousands of people.

From this, we have discovered language for describing how people’s brains work.

The foundation of how we approach Jung’s work, and how we have evolved it into this dynamic system is completely unique to Brain Type Theory.

Can I be more than one Brain Type?

Technically, all humans have some element of all four Brain Types. But since Brain Type simply describes the one we prefer to use, we generally focus on your Primary Brain Type, and to a lesser degree, your Secondary Brain Type.

Think about the fact that you’re typing on a computer or a phone. You’re using both hands, and probably most fingers (on a keyboard at least, hehe). But when you go to grab a pen to sign your name, you automatically prefer to use one hand and a certain combination of fingers to hold that pen.

Why? It’s not because you never use the other hand, it’s just that you have come to prefer the one that’s dominant.

Brain Type exists to help you figure out your Primary Brain Type preference. Some people have stronger preferences, and some are more in the middle and switch back and forth between their Primary and Secondary Brain Types more often (just like some people are more ambidextrous than others). But you are still going to have a preference.

What is the difference between the 4 planners for each Brain Type?

There are three main sections of the planners: Daily, Weekly, and Monthly. The Weekly and Monthly pages are the same across all four planners for each Brain Type.

The Daily Pages of each planner have been tailored to how each Brain Type operates. There are different tips and quotes for each Brain Type on the daily pages to help that Brain Type grow and evolve, different prompts to help each Brain Type thrive on a daily basis, and different ways of setting up task execution for each Brain Type, based on our preliminary research.

Last updated: January 03, 2018 14:43

Can I order more than 1 different type of planner?

Absolutely!

Once our campaign ends, we’ll email out a survey to all Backers to collect shipping and Brain Type info, and you’ll be able to select any combination you want!

That means, if you order a 4 pack (for example), all 4 planners could be Oracle planners, or you could select 50/50 for 2 Oracle/ 2 Explorer planners, or you can order all 4 planners for the Alchemist, Oracle, Explorer, and Architect Brain Types!

But these combinations are just examples… Mix and match your order any way you choose. ;)

Last updated: January 03, 2018 14:43

However, there will be brain type specific nuances and features that will continue to grow as the app evolves.

Last updated: January 03, 2018 14:43

What will the App do?

The app is meant to work in unison with the Planner. It makes the planner experience better and vice versa. More specifically, the app will keep track of the data you input into the planner, then show you data that will help you evolve. What days are your most/least productive, trends in workflow, and much more.

Like yourself, this app will evolve. It’s main purpose is to make your journey in evolution much easier. We will continue to update, listen to your requests, and provide you a product that will do just that.

Last updated: January 03, 2018 14:43

How much will the app cost?

The app is free, though we will be adding some premium tools that you can pay a monthly subscription fee to access. We’ll release more details as they’re available.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
